House hunting tips

Start early!

take into account that house hunting in Marburg may take its time...

Don't forget that housing is most expensive during the wintersemester.  At the beginning of each semester is the demand for housing at its largest.

Should you wish to rent a room or apartment from the student council, please do not hesitate to contact our staff members beraten. We are glad to assist you.

Should you prefer to find housing privately refer to the local newspapers or look for online offers.  Take a look at the black board hanging out in the student house for offers of fellow students, or hang out an add yourself.

Always take a real close look at the rent, compare it and inform yourself whether or not the amount includes heating, electricity etc.  Normally you must make a deposit.

Don't forget to think of additional costs such as telephone, internet and insurance.  You can also make use of the services of a real estate agent, but inform yourself of their fees as these can be very high.  Unlike the rooms of the Student Council most rooms rented privately are not furnished.  Think of the upcoming costs should you wish to furnish your room.
