Technical assistance
For most handicapped students their studies would not be possible without technical assistance. We'd like to name a few.
Deaf, or partially deaf students can make use of Mikroport equipment: a wireless sender-receiver-combination to transfer sound waves. First year students may lend out equipment for a certain period of time, free of charge.
Blind or visually impaired students can use visual help, magnifying glasses etc. You can make an appointment with your medical aid fund to find out what is best for you. For people applying for a job the Job centre offers additional help. Typing machine for the blind and special computer software can be used by blind students.
Physically disabled students may need a Dictaphone, special typing machines or special desks.
The university offers...
Some universities offer assistance to physically disabled students. At some universities handicapped students can make use of special computer workstations. Deaf students can lend Mikroport equipment. In Berlin students of all the universities in the city may borrow technical equipment. Physically disabled students can find special assistance in Berlin, Dortmund, Dresden, Marburg and Karlsruhe.
